 Mercury Retrogrades 2010

    That joker and all around trickster, Mercury, will turn retrograde, or backward, three times in 2010.  Can a planet move backwards?  No, not really, it just appears to, from our position on Earth.  Its like a train on the next track that seems to be moving backward as your train pulls forward leavening the station, an interesting illusion.  Three or four times a year Mercury is retrograde, and illusion becomes confusion in our lives.  It is a good idea to check and recheck your plans. You absolutely dont want to buy a car or computer during this time; too many tales too sad to tell.

  During the Mercury retro times we may find it hard to be energized and assertive.  Impulsive actions will lead to delays and disappointment.  Risks will be riskier, although they may seem like a good idea at the time.  Caution, the red flags are up. 

Mercury Retrograde is a cunning mischief-maker that brings difficulty and frustration, particularly if you don't know how to identify and work with him.  Whenever someone calls me with panic in their voice, asking if Mercury is retrograde, it usually is.  Since forewarned is forearmed, here are the dates for Mercury Retrograde 2010:

• April 18 - May 11  Aries to Taurus: You may feel like racy off, but go slow and easy.

• August 20 - September 12   in Virgo:  Think and rethink before you speak or act.  Call an old friend just to say, "Hello."

• December 10 - 30  Sagittarius to Capricorn: Write down and recomfirm all social events.   Patience, patience, patience.      

When Mercury goes retrograde it is a time to do anything that starts with re: redo, rework, review, remind, replant, repair, reconnect, return, repeat, renew, replace, repent, relive, refuse, rewrite, remove, recall..., you get the idea.  It is not the time to start something new, you will find you change your mind, or things dont work out as you expect.  This period can have many little annoyances: this is when people lose their keys; miss planes, or cars break down.  When you realize it is just Mercury saying, "Slow down and reflect", its easier to be philosophical and let the disruptions roll off your back.

People say they dont believe in Mercury Retrograde.  That's OK.  It's like gravity, you don't have to believe in it for it to work. Keep a short and easy journal of the events during these 3 retrogrades and by 2011 you'll probably be a believer.
